Kitchen Kashering ServicesShabbat & Holiday Logistics What Kitchen Items Can Be KasheredCounters & Sinks: What Can Be Kashered
Countertops made from solid stone or metal are generally kasherable. The most commonly kashered countertop materials in Jerusalem rentals and luxury homes include granite, marble, quartz (including Caesarstone), quartzite, and stainless steel. These materials can be kashered using Hagalah or high heat, depending on halachic requirements. If your countertops are made from other materials, we will advise on proper covering solutions.
No. We kasher specific, fully kasherable materials only. Commonly kashered surfaces include granite, marble, quartz/Caesarstone, quartzite, onyx, limestone, slate, soapstone, copper, zinc, and stainless steel sinks. If a surface is not kasherable, we provide clear guidance on covering methods to maintain a kosher kitchen.
The most kasher-friendly countertop materials, commonly used in luxury and high-end kitchens, include:
Granite
Quartz / Caesarstone
Quartzite
Marble
Stainless steel
These materials are widely accepted for kashering and are ideal for long-term kosher kitchens. We can also provide a full material guidance list based on CRC standards, to assist with kitchen design and renovation planning.
Materials that are porous, layered, synthetic, or heat-sensitive generally cannot be kashered and require covering, especially for Pesach. These include porcelain, ceramic tile, concrete-based surfaces, Dekton-type composites, glass tiles, and many engineered or plastic-based materials. When such materials are present, we recommend approved covering solutions rather than kashering.
